MGCC Constitution

THE CONSTITUTION OF THE MIDDLE GEORGIA CAMERA CLUB

ARTICLE I

NAME- This organization shall be known as the Middle Georgia Camera Club.

ARTICLE II

AIMS- The aims of the Middle Georgia Camera Club shall be the enjoyment, mastery, and furtherance of photography through cooperation, effort and fellowship; to further the acceptance of photography as a fine art through the promotion and sponsorship of salons and exhibitions; to provide photographic assistance to the development of civic projects; to provide programs of an educational, training, and entertaining nature; and to take advantage of educational, scientific, and technical opportunities offered by the photographic and allied industries and societies.

ARTICLE III

MEETINGS-Regular meetings of the club shall have the place, date, and time thereof stipulated by the Executive Board. All official meetings of the club and the Executive Board shall be conducted according to Robert’s Rule of Order.

ARTICLE IV

MEMBERSHIP-Membership is open to any person interested in photography. Application blanks shall be provided by the Membership Committee. The applicant shall be considered a member upon completion of the application and payment of applicable dues. Membership of any person may be suspended for cause by action of the Executive Board. The suspended member shall have the right to appeal suspension, in which case the action of the Executive Board shall be upheld or rescinded by a majority vote of the membership. Lifetime membership shall be awarded to any member attaining 25 years as a member of Middle Georgia Camera Club. No dues for these members.

ARTICLE V

OFFICERS-The following officers shall be elected by the membership for a term of one calendar year:(1) President, (2) First Vice President, (3) Second Vice President-Cherry Blossom Festival, (4) Second Vice President-Georgia State Fair, (5) Second Vice President-Georgia National Fair, (6) Third Vice President, (7) Secretary, (8) Treasurer.

ARTICLE VI

COMMITTEES-Standing committees shall be established annually by the President, to conduct club activities.

ARTICLE VII

MANAGEMENT-By-laws shall be established to implement this Constitution and management of the club shall be directed by the Executive Board, composed of the officers, chairmen of Standing Committees, and the immediate Past President who shall serve ex-officio as Chairman of the board. The board shall meet as often as necessary to transact business of the club. A majority of the Executive Board shall constitute a quorum.

ARTICLE VIII

REVISIONS- Revisions of the constitution may be proposed by the Executive Board. Approval of the revision will be by two-thirds of the membership present at a duly authorized meeting. Ratification of proposed Constitution Amendments/Revisions to be considered at a meeting where proper notification has been conducted. Proper notification is considered publication in the Middle Georgia Camera Club’s Newsletter.

ARTICLE IX

AMENDMENTS- Amendments to the Constitution may be proposed to the Executive Board by any member. If approved by the Board, said proposed amendment will be incorporated into the Constitution by a two-thirds vote of the membership present at the meeting. Amendments to the By-laws may be proposed to the Executive Board by any member. If approved by the Board, said proposed amendment will become a part of the By-laws by a majority vote of the membership present at the meeting.
