MGCC: Middle Georgia Camera Club

Chris Overcash

MGCC member Chris OvercashI’ve lived in the south all of my life. My family moved from North Carolina to Georgia in 1969. I’m an alumnus of Warner Robins High School and Auburn University.

Photography and music are my two main creative outlets. As a kid I always loved taking photos but was often disappointed with the developed photos that came back. An old roll of Kodak film seems so quaint and limiting these days compared to the unlimited possibilities provided by digital cameras.

My wife bought me my first digital camera in the summer of 2006. I entered the photography contest at the Georgia National Fair that fall and was fortunate enough to win a blue ribbon. I’ve been hooked ever since. I joined the MGCC in 2008 and continue to learn from my fellow photographers and artists.

I love the versatility of a photo. It can provide something as useful and simple as a mug shot for a driver’s license or become a work of art. The thing I love best though is the way a photograph captures a moment in time and the emotion it can evoke. My hope is that some of my photos will outlast me and mean something to those left behind … maybe even my great great grandchildren.

  • Cool Chris! This is what I call “photo Art”. Great use of color – and imagination.
