Our own award-winning photographer William Haun will be demonstrating the ins and outs of the latest version of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3. He will be sharing how he integrates Lightroom into his workflow and giving valuable tips on how you can improve the ways you process and share your digital images.

Doors open at 6:45pm for a workshop on how to prepare your photographs to enter in the Georgia National Fair Photography Competition and how fill out the required pre-registration forms. Everyone is invited to participate. Those who have never entered images in the Fair competition are encouraged to attend.

The regular meeting starts at 7:30pm. We will be showing the Third Cycle Print submissions and awarding ribbons. We will also review members’ images from the Juliette field trip we did in conjunction with the Warner Robins DIPG for the 3rd Annual Worldwide Photowalk.

A reminder that tonight, June 15th, is the deadline to turn in your 3rd Cycle Prints.

We have to presentations scheduled tonight:

• Our own William Haun will share about his recent trip to South Africa where he covered the World Cup for Baptist Press.
• We will be viewing a PSA presentation on “Photographing People”
  “We’ll show you how a few simple techniques can make your picture-taking results more natural and flattering. Friendliness, warmth, and enthusiasm can work to your advantage in making your subjects feel at ease. See how window light and a simple reflector yield softened tones and shadows on your subject. Also included are tips on posing, whether it’s of kids at play or mom and dad resting on the porch swing. Remember: One of the key ingredients in better people pictures is expression. Improved results will be yours after viewing and using the techniques mentioned in Photographing People.”

Our next meeting is this Thursday, June 15th.

• At 7 p.m. the Camera Focus Groups will meet. Come bring your camera and meet with others who shoot with your brand of camera to share information and ideas.
• At 7:30 we will have the general meeting. We will show both the First and Second Cycle Prints at this meeting. We also have a program CD to view from the PSA (Photographic Society of America). Please come.

The program tonight is showing the Still Life In a Bag Images and the First Cycle Prints. Hope to see you all at the meeting!

At 7:30pm, our guest speaker Lynne Barta will present a program on composition tips and “seeing” in photography. We’ll also be turning in prints (mono and color) for Cycle 2 competition as well as returning the still life bags collected at the last meeting.

As we view the results from our fellow members we can observe what is pleasing to the eye and to also learn how our fellow members react to the items that they must use to complete this fun project.

In order for this fun project to be reality you must bring a “Sealed Shopping Bag” with five items inside with your name on the bottom of the bag to the next meeting, May 6, 2010. You must use the items in the bag in your still life. You can not introduce additional items. However you do not have to use all the items in the bag. You have two weeks to take your images. In order to proceed with this project in a timely fashion you must return the bag with the contents to the May 20, 2010 meeting. You will have time to edit your images. The date for the showing of the images will be at one of the June Meetings.

The image submission date will be announced later. Please be aware that you may submit printed images or digital images. The number of images you will be allowed to submit will depend on the number of Members who actually participate in this project. Hopefully everyone will take advantage of this opportunity so we can all appreciate each other’s talent. Do not be shy about participation. We are all members of our Camera Club and this is but one opportunity to “Learn By Doing.”

Please bring your sealed bag with five items inside with your name on the bottom to the May 6th meeting and be ready to have fun as a member of the Middle Georgia Camera Club.

Novice, amateur and professional photographers alike are welcomed! This is your opportunity to compose unique and evocative photos by moonlight at historic Riverside Cemetery! Experiment with long and multiple exposures to create awesome special effects. Try “painting” with light using flashlights to illuminate subject matter. Professionals will be on hand to instruct and advise you.

This special event is limited to 30 participants on a first-registered basis. Fee is $30; couples pay $50.
